It's possible that it wasn't due to the quality of the writing, as some may expect, but that the risk in killing-off the most marketable character of the Xbox brand is highly erroneous. It stands to reason that higher-ups (like Microsoft) were initially dissatisfied with the direction of the narrative, and thus prompted a rewrite. according to many anecdotes and speculation, Halo 5 was rewritten very late during its development. I think if they truly committed to the idea, it would have been a phenomenal, memorable story-line, albeit controversial with fans of the character.īuuuut. Personally, I felt that Halo 4 foreshadowed Chief to die by the end of the saga, coinciding with its themes of death, loss, existentialism, purpose, etc. Maybe the writers of Halo 4 had a whole conclusion to the Reclaimer saga in mind, one that would ultimately end Chief's story. But based on the direction of the narrative we’ve seen so far it doesn’t seem like they want to push the promethean plot hard anymore. I still doesn’t fix some of the more structural issues with the campaign, and I guess 343i could still in theory use a reveal like this in Infinite. Something about “preventing humans from taking the mantle at any cost”Ĭ) Chief getting trapped inside a Cryptum would make perfect sense, because the Didact would understand the sheer torment he experienced in there (Fireteam Osiris would not rescue them at the end of the campaign 5 seconds after they’re trapped, we want a darker ending for the middle chapter of the story). You could even have HIM transporting the Halo ring in the legendary ending. Could push an “humiliated me and my Forerunner pride” arc as he gets more desperate. Haha I wish :) I always figured that reveal alone would fix a good chunk of Halo 5’s narrative problems:Ī) the whole Cortana resurrection / jarring tonal shift of her character.ī) it would make the Didact a more central/personal villain to the reclaimer saga with way more development. The prometheans aren't diverse enough or weak enough to fight in the quantity we get them, making them a rare but challenging fight THAT ISN'T A BULLET SPONGE would do wonders to improve their reputation and make them a genuine threat. The flood are great because even though they all behave the same they're easy to mow down until you get overwhelmed by numbers. The covenants diversity is what makes them so much fun to fight because theres always a mix and max to their numbers. My biggest beef with prometheans the past 2 games has been there is just too much time spent fighting the same 3 enemies with the exact same weapons and movements. Give the 8ft metal Forerunner monsters some much needed respect and make them a force to be reckoned with instead of a rinse and repeat annoyance.
Or better yet do it the floodgate way and make them a 1 or 2 mission arc where they're overwhelming both you and your enemies until you blow up something vital. Here is the latest progress photo and video.I'd be cool with them being used super sparingly yet built like trucks, Reach Zealot style. Costume, Props, Mass Effect, Halo 4, Didact, Sculpting, Molding, Casting, EVA Foam, Silicone, Latex. Evil-FX on USTREAM: Prop and Armor Making with Evil FX.
I Plan to live stream the entire build, start to finish over the next few months. I'm also doing (almost) daily live cam feed from the workshop if you want to tune in and watch me make a mess and cuss a lot. If you want to see daily progress check out my facebook page at I'll try to post updates here at least once a week as I have some noticeable progress to report. Just another day or two to smooth it out a bit and prep it for molding. Still in the early stages of the build but the helmet sculpt is almost done. Been a while since I posted anything (mostly because for the last year I've been making the same damn things over and over again) but now I'm finally taking a break to make something for myself, The Didact from Halo 4.
